The night in your pocket — getting Nightfall Survivors ready for mobile

A smaller Android build, touch controls, automatic quality and notch-aware screens — and why it still needs testing on a real device.

Bringing Nightfall Survivors to phones was always one of the reasons for the migration. The Unity version already has an Android build ready — and this is the honest list of what is done and what is left.

A smaller build

The Android test package went from 55.8 MB down to 43.6 MB by tuning how the native code is compiled. The pixel art stays uncompressed and crisp, and music streams so it does not take up memory.

Touch controls

  • a joystick that appears where your finger lands, on the left half of the screen;
  • touch areas of at least 48 dp for dash, ultimate and potion;
  • the red EXECUTE button, which only appears when a target is in reach;
  • bigger level-up cards, with “Tap a card to choose”.

The interface respects the safe area of notched screens, and the scale adapts between phone and tablet based on the physical screen size.

Automatic quality

The game picks its own quality. Devices with less than 3.8 GB of memory, fewer than 6 cores or an entry-level GPU start on the Very low profile; the rest on Low. If a run drops below 50 frames per second, quality steps down, and it steps back up when there is headroom.

What is left

All of this was measured on a phone simulated on PC. The next step is testing on a real Android device. Then come the stores: Google Play first and, last, the App Store.
